TGIF! It was a wild first week back to school this 2011. Always wonderful to see my friends and the kids again yet it seems to be a long week. I'm not sure if it is because of the new year, getting back in to a routine or because my vacation was busier than a typical week. Either way the school week has come to an end.
I'm looking forward to doing some serious writing tomorrow morning and hopefully again tomorrow night. My daughter has plans for the day so I've set aside the morning for writing - a Noreaster of words!
(For those living in Upstate NY in the winter - a lake effect warning with the lovely North East winds is always a joy and overfow of snow)
This is a warning for my computer - there is a storm of words developed in my mind and are due to arrive tomorrow morning! Highlighters, sticky notes, looseleaf, pencils, pens, computer keys and monitor prepare to come out of hibernation. I have days of reading and research waiting to drop - in hopes of producing pages of hope and inspiration for other siblings who have lost a sibling.
Isaiah 4:6 (NIV)
It will be a shelter and shade from the heat of the day, and a refuge and hiding place from the storm and rain.
Yesterday evening as my husband and I enjoyed the Lord's teaching at the Bible Study held at our home a verse spoke to me. Isaiah 4:2 - 6 in its entirety touched me yet it was the final verse that warmed my heart and I had a feeling of "Aha...this is the one!"
After reading Elaine W. Miller's blog (http://www.elainewmiller.blogspot.com/) I was inspired and started praying for God to show me the verse He had for me this 2011! I've read a few that were nice and I thought "This could apply." yet I didn't have the feeling of confirmation it was from God and the purpose is to have the verse be one from Him to Me - not Me fulfilling whatever I think I need it to be.
Isaiah 4:6 fills me with such hope and has the power to strengthen and encourage me on the days when I don't think I can write another word, be thankful another moment or have my praises outway my request!
Thank you Jesus for my 2011 verse!
Do you have a Scripture Verse for 2011? If so...feel free to share. You never know when your verse (or mine) might be a blessing to someone reading this blog.
P.S. I haven't settled on my one word yet - still praying and listening for this one. I'll keep you posted.
I know I've blogged about this before yet I seem to need the reminders every so often. I returned to work yesterday after ten days off. They were busy and not quite as productive as I'd hoped ~ as it pertains to my writing.
BUT as I visited with a friend this morning while walking I was reminded "Writing is more than writing!" Although I didn't finish the book proposal in its entirety or revised a complete chapter - I did read five days worth of newspaper articles, reread articles online and other documents regarding Heidi's case and the events that followed. I spent time talking with my parents about how the New Haven Fire Department was designed when it became the command center. We talked about where we were and who called us. SO...there wasn't an abundance of writing yet there was a lot of reading, researching, talking and healing.
Now to transfer the newly revisited information and conversations into the next chapter and a complete book proposal.
Talk to you tomorro
Happy New Year once again! My family and I had the blessing of spending New Year's Eve with some of our church family this year. As we finished dessert and some wonderful fellowship our hosts shared a tidbit they had heard on KLove on the Lisa and Eric Show while traveling.
A woman on the radio shared about how for 2010 she had chose "One Word" to be her focus word for the year. She had chose the word "listen" and she shared what a blessing this one six-letter word was in her life for the year.
Our hosts invited us to pray about what could be our "One Word" for 2011. It doesn't have to be a word from the Bible yet it should be a word to lead, guide and inspire you through the year. A word developing us into a stronger witness for Christ while strengthening our relationship with Him.
Will you join me in this endeavor? I"m still praying about my "One Word" for 2011 ~ I'll let you know this week (hopefully tomorrow) what it will be.
If you accept this invitiation to focus on "One Word" for 2011 and would like to post your word ~ it would be interesting to hear what "One Word" spoke to each of you. Also by sharing - it is a specific way I can be praying for you through the year.
I pray your "One Word" is a blessing to you and those around you this 2011!
I have escaped from my own house to my parents to work on my book. I do some of my best writing at my parents...maybe becuase this home. :) One of my friends suggested I escape and turn on my phone - I'm following orders. At least for the moment. LOL
My husband is off sledding with his brother and nephew and my daughter is teaching me how to text! Oh my! She saved enough money to buy herself an Ipod Touch to which I thought was a waste of money yet it has moved to the top of my "want" list! LOL A tiny computer! Love it!
Hoping to finish the next chapter today. I spent over an hour yesterday reading newspaper clippings from April 3rd - April 7th, 1994. The first few days following my sister's abduction, mentally draining yet it triggered something within me and I know how to get this chapter (that has perplexed me) moving!
Have a gre
