Keeping it Real...Welcome! No matter how you found this, God knew you'd be here today. May you absorb the message He has for you. In 2011 I shared through my writing, today I've learned there is more to me than just writing. I have the energy and passion to share with others. Sometimes through Facebook live and others with my blog and most importantly, I've learned my passion to cook and bake is a vessel to share my writing and live presentations, while glorifying God in the process. I just needed to let go, and follow His lead.

Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey released last week. To celebrate the release of the book I decided a little pampering would be okay. I didn't go hog-wild but I did have a ton of fun. A childhood friend of Heidi and me, Jessica, recently started as a Mary Kay Consultant so I contacted her and asked to have a party. I learned new information about Mary Kay with a private lesson of how to apply make-up and what not to do. I asked her if I could blog about it and share the before and after photos on the blog. Jessica, laughed and said, "Of course, but do you really want to share the before with everyone?" I shrugged my shoulders and told her, "I'll give you my worst hair, no smile, and a discouraged look for the before and wait until the release date to take the 'after' shot." We both laughed because my before picture is scary, to say the least. Jessica not only spoiled us with a Mary Kay party at the house but she returned on April 3rd at 10 a.m. to do my make-up before the first book signing at the Heidi Allen Remembrance Garden. The pampering only continued as Jessica met me at the River's End Bookstore at 4:45 p.m. to "touch-up" my make-up and even "shined" my hair for the big celebration. Jessica is more than a Mary Kay Consultant, she is a friend helping a friend. Thank you Jessica. My fabulous hair stylist, Rachel, gave me a great new cut and style with some new reds added for fun. The combination of new hair and make-up complimented the magnificent day! Thank you Jessica for taking time to keep my face fresh and touching up the curls since Rachel couldn't be there.
