I met so many great people and heard their stories of how God worked or was working in their lives. I saw past students and friends we haven't seen in months, if not years. Prior to the release of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey, the idea of going to a speaking engagement, book signing, or event like the fair induced stress. It wasn't the visiting or interacting with others because this is one of my favorite aspects of being an author. It was the subject matter, would be people want to talk about the case?
I know my sister's kidnapping is one of the first missing children cases in the county and one of the bigger unsolved cases in the area but my goal is writing and speaking is to introduce others to Heidi, my sister, and person...not the missing person's poster. I'm so thankful, for the majority, no one asks about the case. Instead, they want to know about Heidi and the things they can't read in a newspaper. God is using one eighteen year old's kidnapping to ways I was unable to see over twenty years ago.
