Generally my daily blogs are related to my book writing - whether it be my actual book or putting together the proposal. Writing my book and creative writing are my preference yet I know writing in various styles challenges one's creative genious and own craft so I'm always looking for a way to improve my writing. Although writing for a newspaper or bulletin is difficult for me - I know it makes me a better writer. Thankfully this Fall an opportunity came about that would allow me to both improve my writing and to help others.
This past December I took advantage of an opportunity to write in a different venue - for a monthly bulleting. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's (NCMEC), "Ride for Missing Children" Mohawk Valley puts together a monthly news letter for the riders, families and contributors. In the first article I introduced the purpose and goal of the new column for the bulletin, titled "Through our eyes..." For January and February I had the pleasure to listen as two mothers shared their stories as it related to their child's disappearance. One's daughter was found in another state because a delivery driver recognized her precious face from a NCMEC poster and made the call. She was returned home safely. While the other, only was notified when her son's body was found. Both stories touched my heart and I'm blessed through their words as they trusted me to share their story. This month I was asked if I would be interested in writing two articles. The "Through our eyes..." column and an article talking about infant safety. I've researched and learned many things and now have to sum them up into one article. When I started I thought I new how to present the article and then this morning I came up with an all different idea. Ahh...article is due by Midnight. I love crunch time. :) Talk to you tomorrow!
