Last night I had the honor to represent Heidi with Jon Leiberman and Derek VanLuchene on a live Spreecast, "Who Abducted Heidi Allen?" God works in mysterious ways, Derek and I met a couple years ago at a Ride for Missing and Exploited Children in the Mohawk Valley, New York. This past year, while riding on the bus and weathering the stormy weather, the families of the missing got to know each other a little better. It was on this bus ride, in May of 2014, that Derek invited me to be on his and Jon's Spreecast to share about Heidi. I agreed and asked if we could wait until July or August when school was out. After school let out, we firmed up a date, never expecting or knowing how events would unfold at the latter part of July. I had a decision to make, to keep my scheduled interview or postpone. Looking below, you know we kept our date. Last night's spreecast was about Heidi Allen, an eighteen year old girl, kidnapped from her place of employment on Easter Sunday, 1994. She remains missing today. This hasn't changed in the past few weeks. The truth is, Heidi was kidnapped and REMAINS MISSING! As long as she is missing, as her sister, I will do my little part to keep her name, memory, and disappearance on the hearts and minds of those I cross paths with. Spreecast is the social video platform that connects people. Check out Who Abducted Heidi Allen? on Spreecast.
Derek and I have something else in common, the role we represent while at the Ride for Missing Children. We each had our sibling kidnapped. Derek's brother Ryan, was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and murdered on August 31, 1987 at the age of eight. My sister, Heidi, disappeared on April 3, 1994, and remains missing. We both lost that special bond, brother-to-brother, and sister-to-sister, yet in its place...drive, determination, and hope to help others no it's possible to survive. Please visit Derek's site, Ryan United, to read more about his brother Ryan, and the family's mission to make a difference in the lives of others. I'm blessed by our friendship and watching how God uses Ryan and his family to encourage others, especially me. Thank you Derek and Jon for sharing Heidi with your viewers ~ may this help to bring her home. I enjoy watching your Spreecasts. Your compassion and concern for the missing and their families is refreshing. Thanks for being you. Be sure to watch the Spreecast and visit Ryan United... |
