A WRITERS’ CONFERENCE! Relaxation, rejuvenation and writing are the plan for the next couple of days. Those who have attended a writers’ conference in the past are thinking, “Relaxation? Rejuvenation? Writing? I don’t think so.” HOWEVER, I am serious, all three will happen with some reflection, fellowship, and Bible study included too. This is my third year to attend the Delta Lake Christian Writer’s Gathering. I look forward to seeing friends I have met in past years and the new friends I have yet to meet. Of course the information, techniques, and networking during the afternoon sessions of the conference are the reason I have the next few days reserved on the calendar BUT it is the spiritual renewal my heart looks forward too. I was blessed to attend the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers’ Conference last year. It was fun. I learned a lot and experienced so much yet the days and nights were so full there was not time to rest. Meals were a time of networking more than fellowshipping. Of course, this is the reason I invested the money and time to attend this conference. I was there to sell my book and network, so my goals were achieved for the most part. No one has offered a contract for my book yet but a few have requested it because of this conference. ![]() The difference between this week’s conference and the other is the time dedicated to restoring the spiritual depletion of life. There are morning and evening services, mission moments, and seminars to strengthen our relationship with God and Jesus. The Christian Missionary and Alliance church has developed an amazing Bible camp and conference center. It feels as if you are on holy ground, instant peace surrounds me when I arrive. I look forward to growing as a writer over the next couple of days yet the renewed person I am when I leave is truly a blessing. Be sure to read Friday’s blog and learn how the first day of the conference went. |
