Are you familiar with book tours, also known as a book signing? A book tour is when an author visits different bookstores to promote their new book. Book tours need to occur after a book's release in order for readers to purchase the book while at the bookstore.
So how does an author share their upcoming release with readers before the fact? An easy answer in today's techno-savvy world. The use of a blog tour increases exposure of the author and his or her book in a fun and different way with each post.
A blog tour on the other hand is when an author distributes a free "pre-release" PDF version of their upcoming book to a person who writes a blog. This person is called a "blogger". The blogger then reads the book, writes a review, and instead of posting their normal blog one day, they post their written review of the author's book.
So basically, in exchange for the the author of the blogger giving up space and time from their normal posts, they write a review, and introduce the author's new book to their followers.
Blog tours are becoming a way for authors to share their newest book in the weeks leading up to the release and even after. One of my favorite aspects of the blog tour is the opportunity to meet new people and potential readers.
It is kind of like a virtual book tour to get the word out about the book's upcoming release or regenerate interest months (and sometimes years) after.
So why did I explain "what" a blog tour is?
Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey is set to be released on April 3, 2013. As the calendar days are crossed off, this date is fast approaching. It is time to start planning for my blog tour and book signings (tour).
My goal is to tour the blogosphere at least once a week between January and March 2013. In order to meet this goal I need bloggers interested in receiving a FREE PDF of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey to read, review, and post on their blog next year to contact me in the upcoming weeks.
Lisa, Can I read a pre-release PDF of your first book?
Does your head nod up and down with a whisper "yes" after each of the following statements?
I have my own blog.
I am willing to read Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey in PDF form.
I would love to write a review and post it on my blog during January and March 2013.
I agree not to share this pre-release with my friends, family, or anyone else bribing me with Dunkin Donuts coffee. (LOL)
Great! If you answered yes to each of these statements, drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with "Blog Tour" in the subject line. You will hear from me soon. If you are not a blogger but know a blogger who might be interested, feel free to share this information with him or her. Thank you!
For those saying "Man, I want to read it too."
You never know what might happen
during the blog tour,
FREE PDF's might
be given away.
Time will tell...
Note: If you write a review and post it on your blog, your blog address and date will be posted on my Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey book page too. So not only do you receive a FREE PDF, your blog will be shared with all my readers as a small thank you.
This also helps my potential book readers ample opportunities to read at least a dozen book reviews before the book's release.
If you are a library or bookstore, I have started to schedule book signings for after April 3, 2013 already. You can contact me through through the link below. Thanks everyone!
