Keeping it Real...Welcome! No matter how you found this, God knew you'd be here today. May you absorb the message He has for you. In 2011 I shared through my writing, today I've learned there is more to me than just writing. I have the energy and passion to share with others. Sometimes through Facebook live and others with my blog and most importantly, I've learned my passion to cook and bake is a vessel to share my writing and live presentations, while glorifying God in the process. I just needed to let go, and follow His lead.

The joy of opening your book for the first time is truly a momentous occasion. Last week, I released my second book, When the Waves Subside – There is Hope on Amazon.com. Before releasing the book to the public, I placed an order for fifty copies. The first two were for my parents, one for us, and others to sell. After placing this order, I opened sales up on Amazon.com. My books arrived today!! This is so exciting yet at the same time, it is very funny. I read an excited readers post “My books arrived.” And then, “Just got my copy in the mail!! It is great; you did an awesome job Lisa! :)” I smiled and then burst into laughter. Other people not only have copies of my book before me, they’ve seen the interior before us. Isn’t that great! I love it! When we opened the box, I was overwhelmed and so appreciative of the support, prayers, and encouragement from all of you. Neither of these books would be possible without God or people like you praying my way forward. ![]() This morning, I arrived at work early (this is normal) and was making my “Good Morning” rounds when someone invited me into her room. “Could you do me a favor this morning or after school today?” I answered with an “Of course, what do you need?” as I followed her into her room. Tears filled my eyes as she pulled two books from her bag and asked, “Would you sign my books?” I was speechless. (Yes, this happens occasionally) Before leaving school this afternoon, I signed my first two copies of When the Waves Subside – There is Hope. As I wrote a personal note to her, and another to her designated recipient, I thought, “Wow, I’m an author. Thank you God.” In a way, it is very cool to hear people talking on Facebook, at the store, and at work about a book I’ve written. Their excitement and anticipation for the book’s arrival is a feeling I’ve yet to put into words. All positive, yet new. I stopped to my parents’ house after work to pick up my first official book shipment. We opened the box together and smiled when we saw the books. An anniversary gift for my parents, yes, yet it is so much more. Hope arrived in a cardboard box today. Hope for tomorrow and for healing. Where’s Heidi? One Sister’s Journey releases in fifty-four days!! Wow…I pray the words I’ve written and the words I speak help others to understand it is possible to survive tragedy. I wonder if I should do a book signing for When the Waves Subside – There is Hope? I plan to have this book with me in April at all my book signings for Where’s Heidi? One Sister’s Journey, but maybe I shouldn’t wait. What do you think? I’d love to hear from you. A Funny Story About My First Personal Book Sale...![]() My first sale from the box was to my mother. Yes, I sold a book to my Mom. Before you throw rotten tomatoes at me, I asked, “How many books would you like?” Her response, “Only one, you’ve given us each our own.” I asked, “Are you sure?” Mom said yes and went into the other room. She returned with ten dollars in her hand. She handed me the money and said, “This is for the book.” I argued, “I’m not taking your money. Just tell me how many you want.” With an Irish temperament and determination she firmly stated, “I am buying the first copy out of that box. Take my money. Sign my book and say thank you. I’m first.” Next to God Mom and Dad…you are first!! I love you both!!
