In our lifetime, we face both the good and bad of life, sometimes in the same day. Regardless of events, mood, or circumstances in our path we need to make a choice. It is human nature to pick up the phone and call someone. On the other end of the phone is someone who will listen, provide some feedback, and be there no matter what. You might call to say “Yipee!” and on other days it might be a “Help me!” but it isn’t the message you are sharing that is as important as it is the person you call.
What does your phone look like? Who is the first person you call? Phones come in an array of sizes, shapes, and colors these days BUT none of them will connect you with the person always available with the answers and ability to be all you need.
The phone we should reach for will still be a rectangular prism yet instead of particles of metal, plastic, and wires, it is all natural and decomposable…100% paper. There are no buttons to push, only pages to turn. It doesn’t require a 3G or 4G connection, only an open heart and willingness to trust. You won’t be asked to leave a message because He is always there, 24/7. You don’t need to wait for Him to call back, you only need to stop and listen.
Instead of running to the telephone and your best friend, give it all to Jesus! He can handle any problem, praise, and hope we are willing to share with Him.
What phone do you tend to use the most? Will you share an instance or two when you called on HIM instead of your best friend? What was the outcome?
