Keeping it Real...Welcome! No matter how you found this, God knew you'd be here today. May you absorb the message He has for you. In 2011 I shared through my writing, today I've learned there is more to me than just writing. I have the energy and passion to share with others. Sometimes through Facebook live and others with my blog and most importantly, I've learned my passion to cook and bake is a vessel to share my writing and live presentations, while glorifying God in the process. I just needed to let go, and follow His lead.

A reflection and a review...It was over two years ago when I started this blog and announced my goal to finish writing Where's Heidi? and seek publication. Last summer I decided to set the rejection and the contracts we declined to the side, and to join the rank of Indie Author. In August I announced the release date, April 3, 2013, the nineteenth anniversary of Heidi's kidnapping. On Heidi's birthday, September 14, 2012, I revealed the cover with a press conference and community gathering. In just over a month, our community will gather again to purchase their copy of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey. The journey from emotional vomit to paper and the book awaiting release has been a journey in itself. A journey my mother hopes I will "write" sometime in the future. I have started working on a few other book ideas, and Mom's suggestion is one of them. I am keeping the different ideas in prayer and will probably make a decision be June and share this everyone then. For now, we enjoy the completion and upcoming release of Where's Heidi? An aspect of publishing that makes most author's nervous is sharing their book with Beta readers and reviewers. It feels as if you left your baby off to a new daycare provider, the wait can be nail biting. Thus far, the reviews of Where's Heidi? have been an encouragement and remind me of all God has done to bring each of us to the point in our life we are at. Thank you for joining us. Today, Terri Groh, shares a review on her blog, Hearts In Service. There is a direct link on the photo above and there is more information about Terri and the review on my "book reviews" page on my site. Thank you for everything each of you do! Some pray, some send notes, and others bless with Dunkin Donuts beans. Whatever your part, please know I thank God for the role you play in our journey to find Heidi. What is your favorite part of the blog tour or the pre-release activities leading up to April third this year?

"Who" are you? Do you change?I was asked a question yesterday while at work. It was a simple question with only an honest answer in return. The question was worded something like this, "Are you different when you are out wearing your author and speaking hat than you normally are?" I thought about it a minute and said, "I try to be the same person regardless of where I am." I laughed out loud and while still in the room with this wonderful person I said, "I am but then I'm not. I think I am more serious here at school." We talked a little more, recognizing we are the same person regardless of our location but maybe different. Does that make sense? Same but different...I am who I am. Right? The idea of "who" I am here, there, or anywhere for that matter lingered in my mind throughout the day. I found myself asking, "Am I the same person?" When I'm working in a room with five year olds, the "who" I am is the same but how I respond and interact is going to be different than if I was at a speaking event for a women's church group. Two different audiences and settings require us to modify who we are so those we are spending time with, receive and understand our message. I think this is the part to keep in perspective. Although the way we interact might change, the "who" we are should be consistent and reliable. I might not wear makeup or curl my hair to its full flip on a daily basis when I enter the Kindergarten classroom but my heart to teach and care for the kiddos in my class is always there. My wardrobe to sit criss-cross-applesauce on the floor from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. is quite different than a pair of dress slacks, a nice shirt, and possibly a pair of heels to share my testimony and sister Heidi at speaking engagements (unless we I'm talking about the al"lure" of Christ then I dress like a fisherman, lol) but my desire to be the best woman of God I can be, is the same. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, Is it easier to be the Proverbs 31 woman when surrounded by other sisters-in-Christ? Of course. Do I fight temptation more when I'm under stress? Yes. Am I perfect? NO! Will I ever be perfect? NO. Does my heart for others change? No. Am I more vocal and open in some situations than others? Yes. Am I glad I was asked this question the other day? Yes. So a seemingly simple question has challenged and rebuked me. I am not always who I want to be yet I strive to be that person each day. As I looked up different verses about "who" I am in Christ, I was overcome with emotion. I was humbled, rebuked, encouraged, grateful, and amazed. Popeye might be who he is as he sings, "I am who I am" but this girl chooses to be who God says I am and who He has called me to be. So "who" are you? Are you the same or different?

What is T.O.P.'s Tuesday? Our Tuesday blogs are titled, T.0.P.'s Tuesday and will provide you with information relating to the release of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey. It might be an upcoming speaking engagement, the cover, an excerpt, or bizarre tidbits about the publishing process you may not be aware of. Why is it called T.O.P.'s Tuesday? Great question! Heidi played volleyball for the Bishop Cunningham Jr./Sr. High School until it closed in 1992. On February 14th, 1992 the Palladium Times (an Oswego, New York newspaper) named my sister, Heidi M. Allen athlete of the week. This was exciting and we were all proud of her but it was the name they gave her that stirred the most attention, "Tower of Power". | What's New?*BOOK GIVEAWAY: Oh my gosh, your comments in response to the Ash Wednesday blog were a boost of encouragement for my family. Thank you again. Marion Tickner won a copy of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey before its release in April. And guess what, she has shared a review for all of you too. Check out the "Book Reviews" page to meet Marion - thank you Marion! *My 2nd book, When the Waves Subside - There is Hope, a book written in honor of my parents and the strength and miraculous ability to survive a parents worst fear, the loss of a child. *The Blog Tour continues - check the "Book Reviews" page to catch up on reviews and some of my guest blogs on other people's blogs as part of the tour. *"Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey" Book Release & Signing Party are scheduled for April 3, 2013, 6 p.m. at the River's End Bookstore located on 19 West First Street, Oswego, New York*BIG NEWS: You can PRE-ORDER your books through The River's End Bookstore today! Sick of the flu...what to do?

A little over a week ago our school district started its mid-winter recess. I left school a little tired but excited for the week off. Once home, I joined my husband and daughter for some grocery shopping and errand running. Not to long into this routine, being tired transitioned into exhaustion and a fever.
Long story short, we cut our evening out short and returned home. Ed and Mags took care of the groceries and such, I went to bed. And bed, or horizontal on the couch, is where I have spent our entire mid-winter recess. Of course, yesterday, I felt better so I attended the writers' workshop at the Oswego Public Library. With cough drops and a bottle of water I went, took notes, and left inspired to keep writing.
I learned new things about the Indie life, how to write a romance novel, and that two hours of being social was not something my body was ready for. I picked Mags up from my parents' house and returned home to assume the position of sicky on the couch. With an NCIS marathon to keep me comfy, another afternoon and evening of rest.
I woke this morning with high hopes of being at least 85%. It only took five minutes to realize I am still closer to the 75% range, so instead of enjoying a morning of worship with my church family I took yet another dose of meds prescribed by the doctor and returned to bed. The rattling sound in my chest continues, the cough is consistence and annoying, and the flu reigns. BUT thankfully my hope isn't found in modern medicine or this world.
Today is the last day of our mid-winter recess and tomorrow we return to school. I would love to tell you the additional sleep this morning helped and I'm ready to conquer the world but I can't. One thing I can tell you though is this, healing is around the corner.
God healed the hurt, anger, defeat, grief, and loss of faith after Heidi disappeared and was ripped from my life so I know He can handle something as simple as the flu.

A Day at the Public Library...
Most writers will tell you to keep growing and learning the craft of writing. This afternoon I joined fellow writers in Oswego County at the Oswego Public Library to hear Regina Drumm share her presentation, "A Writer's Journey" Regina is a romance novelist, a totally different genre than mine yet I left with new information to improve my own writing. If you want to learn more about Regina Drumm and her books, click on the photo above.
In addition to learning from Regina, I was in the company of other writers and authors. It was evidence of the importance serious writers place in learning the craft of writing. Amy Quonce and Steve Yablonski took pages of ntoes and listened and a new author, soon to join the world of publishing was A.L. Daniels. It is exciting and motivating for a writer to be in the company of other inspiring authors.
Flu or not, I am ready to do some serious writing. Watch out world...Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey releases on April 3, 2013 and the notes and research for the sequel are in process.

Today is also a book review Saturday! Link isn't posted yet - will link over as soon as it is up. Check back later. Thanks!

Marlene Bagnull graciously accepted my offer to guest blog as part of the Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey blog tour. I "met" Marlene the first time via the Internet when I inquired of the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers' Conference. Although I didn't make it to that year's conference, I did make it the following year.
Marlene's dedication to Christian writers and artists is an inspiration to all who meet her, whether it be online or in person at one of her two fabulous conferences. If you are looking for a great Christian writers' conference on the West Coast, check out the Colorado Christian Writers' Conference. You will be inspired, educated, and motivated to continue on the path of writing for Him when you return home from each of these opportunities.
If this isn't the time for you to attend one of these conferences, you can follow Marlene's blog. She offers valuable writing insight throughout the year, with a wealth of resources linked to her sites too.
Today, I was blessed with the opportunity to guest blog with Marlene and her Write His Answer family in the blogosphere. For a direct link, click on the photo to the left or copy and paste the below link.

The First Shipment Arrives...

There might have a wild storm snowing and blowing in Oswego County on Wednesday but it didn't stop UPS from delivering the first shipment of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey to our door.
Ed and I checked online last week to determine how long it would take for the books to come so we could write "Order Books Now" on the calendar. After placing the order to reach the "estimated delivery date", both our eyes got big as we saw a date in March.
Originally, we planned to order mid-March for the April 3, 2013 release, BUT after realizing it would take a little over two weeks for the books to arrive, we placed the order. I gave my parents the expected delivery date and planned to check on March 1st to monitor the arrival date so my parents could be here to accept the delivery.

I gave my parents the expected delivery date and planned to check on March 1st to monitor the arrival date so my parents could be here to accept the delivery.

Well, needless to say, I don't need to monitor tracking or wait any longer. Mom called Wednesday to say, "The UPS man was just here and said he has a lot of packages for your house, wanted to know if you were home. I thought the books weren't coming until March." I was in shock and watched out the window like a school girl to see that lovely brown truck appear over the hill.
As he backed his truck into the driveway my heart was pounding. Then he thrust open the back doors and started to stack boxes at the end. Taking time to scan each one. To Count. To recount. With the pile stacked taller than most men, he exited the truck through the side door and started the procession of hope from a snow and salt covered delivery truck to the home ready to store them until April third. Did you know this is less than forty days away!?

Each of the twenty-seven boxes have been opened and counted, then restacked in our living room. With this usable space on top, I made it a work area. Instead of multiple folding tables set up in the house, the writing piles now have a new home. I love it, and I'm pretty sure Ed and Mags do too as the living room, although serving as storage unit now, still appears bigger without my small tables set up all over the place.
In spite of the flu keeping me home and horizontal for this mid-winter break, I've scheduled a couple more speaking engagements and book signings. I've started reading and researching for the sequel to Where's Heidi? and spent time reading for fun. Yesterday some clarity and thought processing returned so I started working on presentations for after April third.
I am overwhelmed at how God is working in our lives and in sharing Where's Heidi? with others. Only He could do this. Someone said, "You are doing a lot, you can't give all the credit to God." In one sense, they are right but on the other, no. I only have the emotional, physical, and spiritual strength to do this because of the trust and relationship I have with Him. So yes I am doing my share but God is leading the way and I choose to trust and obey.
You can pre-order your books through the River's End Bookstore -19 W. Bridge St., Oswego, NY or you can call(315)342-0077. They are also hosting the release and book signing party on April 3, 2013 at 6 p.m. Hope you can make it! I believe my entire family will be there, so come and enjoy some food, fun, and of course...pick up your copy of the book and have it signed.

If you could say one thing to encourage the family
as they join the community in public
for the first time in nineteen years...
What would it be?
I can't pin point when Paula and I first met but believe it was at our writers' critique group but then it could have been at the Christian Writers' Gathering at Delta Lake's Bible Conference Center too. I am embarrassed to say I don't remember yet at the same time, I feel as if I've known Paula my entire life. Does this make any sense?
Paula is one of the strongest and sweetest people I know. Her blog, "Sharing a Peace in the Puzzle of Life" provides inspiration for all who read it. One of my favorite "series" or "weekly challenge" this year on her blog requires me to read her blog and then apply it to my life. Paula started "Words Worth Remembering" for 2013. The goal of this series is to encourage herself, and her readers, to hid God's Word in their heart. One verse a week for the entire year. When the ball drops for 2014, we should have at least fifty-two new verses memorized.
I am one of those kids who always asks, "Why?" and when teachers couldn't tell me "why" I should learn something new, I usually checked out and ignored them. I don't advise this method of learning yet I understand it because this is me. Paula understands this stubborn (and annoying) quality in people and not only shares a new verse each week but shares some history and insight for each verse. I love this! Please don't get me wrong, Paula didn't explain it this way, this is only my interpretation and you know how I am. teehee

In addition to amazing friend and blogger, Paula released her first book this past November, Cherish This Christmas: Seeing Christ Amidst the Chaos. It is a beautiful devotional reminding of the reason we celebrate Christmas. It isn't about the wrapping paper and gifts, it is about The Gift.

We want to thank everyone again for the overwhelming and heartfelt messages of hope, encouragement, and remembrance you expressed as part of the Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) book give away. There were many conversations of "How do I pick one?" hence the reason for the computer generated selector. As I typed in each of the fifty-four names, I prayed the person to receive the book was who God intended. Marion's book should arrive before the week's end. I wonder if she curl up with a good book this weekend?
Someone commented on Facebook, "I missed it." No worries, no one has missed anything. For those in the Oswego area, Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey will be available in two locations on April 3, 2013. The first is the book release and signing hosted by The River's End Bookstore in Oswego, New York, and the other is a mystery book signing. Starting on the first Tuesday in March, there will be clues in each of the T.O.P.'s Tuesday blogs leading you to this mystery signing. In 1994 we searched for Heidi, this year we search for Where's Heidi? and the hope I found.
At Midnight, on April 3, Where's Heidi? will be available on Amazon.com. We've decided to only have print copies of the book available at the two signings on the third because I want to meet some of you. You have prayed, supported, and encouraged me for over two years and I look forward to meeting some of you and thanking you personally. This is one small way to say "thank you" to our community too.
If you are going to be in the Oswego area on April 3rd, 2013, you can pre-order your copy of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey through the River's End Bookstore. There is a direct link of the cover photo above.
My goal is to post upcoming book signings and other locations carrying Where's Heidi? for sale after the release party on the third. God is filling my schedule for April quickly and I've started to book signings into May and June. These will be posted in the future for those out of town due to Spring Break.
Some have asked "How can I get an autographed copy if I live out of state?" - this is a question I hope to have an answer to before April third. Thank you so much.

T.O.P.'s Tuesday ~ Winner Announced
Last week, on Ash Wednesday, I announced an opportunity for you to win a copy of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey, pre-release. The goal was for twenty-five comments, not counting mine or my immediate family. I must say, you all amazed and overwhelmed us over the past five and a half days. Your words offered encouragement, inspiration, and a renewed hope to my husband, daughter, parents, and me. Thank you so much!
I'm glad I am using a generator to pick the winner because each of your comments touched my heart deeply. It took me days to respond because your words had such a positive and reflective impact on me. Thank you for that. I never expected such an overflowing bounty of love.
On the video below, you will experience the name being selected first hand. To keep with the April third release, the winner of the book will be in position #3, not #1. I used a program called "Top Hat" to draw the names. There is a choice between the top hat or a bucket and sea shells. I chose the bucket and shells to remind us of warmer days ahead.
I don't want to keep you waiting any longer....click play on the video to find out who won the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) for leaving a comment on last week's Ash Wednesday's blog.

Manic About Monday - Part II
"So goes Monday, so goes the week."
~ Mary (Hogan) Searles ~
"Is it Friday yet, wait, what am I saying, everyday is Friday for me, and there are no Mondays.Lets see now, if the saying is So goes Monday so goes the week, and I have no Mondays, where does that leave me?" The Old Man
The conversation started on January 7, 2013 after a post about Mondays. Click on the above photo to read this blog. With a Bangles tune as background music, I shared my grandmother's perspective on Mondays. A Monday is the stepping stone for your week ~ so we have a choice to make, will it be a good week or one leaving us to pray for an early Friday. I try to choose the positive. Of course, because it's more enjoyable to have a good day but mostly because I remember Gram's words, "So goes Monday, so goes the week." And I don't want a crummy week.
This blog generated a few comments on the blog, Facebook, and over the dinner table. My father challenged me with the above statement. He cracks me up, but at the same time, he made a valid point. For those of us going to work and banking our days for retirement, we tend to have a Garfield frame of mind towards Monday.
But what about our wonderful retirees? If they no longer have a Monday ~ what makes Friday so special? And what day decides how their week will be? Is there a starting day to the week?
I've spent the past month thinking about this and believe I have an answer. I think for the retired, your Monday depends on how God wired you, and maybe even on the way you are uniquely gifted and made. Do you remember the creation story in the book of Genesis? I think this is the answer to Dad's question.
Depending on who YOU are, as a man or woman ~ might determine the day in which your week starts. Think about it, God used a model of seven days when He created the world ~ there was one for rest. If you are unfamiliar, read Genesis 1:1 - Genesis 2:2. NIV

Day 7"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work. Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done." Genesis 2:2 | Each day is important but |
God is the Ultimate Creator yet He designed each of us to create too. Some of us are created to see the difference between good and evil, and know how to move forward so the light shines. Others have "green thumbs" and can grow just about anything. Others might have a deeper appreciation for birds, fish, or other animal species? Regardless of how we are gifted, on the seventh day, God even rested.
Do you have a day of rest? I challenge you - whatever your day of rest is, whether it is in the middle of the calendar week or the end - make the next day...Monday!! Your Monday depends on when you rest. If you aren't resting, mark a day on the calendar - if for no other reason than to have a Monday the next day.

"Attitude has the power to transform our outlook, our day, and our week. If we start Monday with a "Is it Friday yet?" mentality, then it will be a long and miserable week. So instead, start the week with a "Thank you Jesus for the week ahead of me. Thanks for the breath in my lungs, my family, friends, and the blessings you have set aside for me. It is going to be a great week with my eyes fixed on you." Lisa M Buske

here's Heidi? One Sister's Journey
by leaving a comment on last Wednesday's blog.
Entries accepted until Midnight today (2/18) - the winner will be announced tomorrow as part of the T.O.P.'s Tuesday blog.
This week I am mailing out information about my upcoming release, Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey, and my availability for book signings and presentations. I've spent the past few weeks looking for locations that might be interested in having me come for a book signing.
I've learned a couple things through this search. First, unless I know the name of the independent bookstore in your area, it might not show on my Google search. And second, there are cafés and other places that might encourage book signings yet unless I know their exact name, it doesn't show either.
Instead of banging my head on the wall or giving up I had an idea. I know there are many of you following the blog from across New York State and beyond. The reason Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey is only available in print from on April third at the River's End Bookstore is because I want to meet as many of my readers as possible.
After April third though, I would love to deliver books to other bookstores so it can be available in your area too. In order to do this, I need to hear from you. If you have a church, library, bookstore, cafe', coffee house, book nook, art center, or other establishments that host book signings and author visits, will you share their information with me?
If you leave their name, address, phone, and email ~ I will mail contact them to see if there is a way we could set up a time for me to visit for a book signing or if they would be interested in carrying the books for sale. I may not be able to reach all your suggestions but I will do my best to. Thanks for helping me find you...
April is filling quickly but May and June is warm and full of sunshine so we can keep the momentum of Where's Heidi?'s release going.

Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey
In 1994, my only sister was abducted while working alone at a local convenience store. The book opens with an early morning phone call then details the emotions, grief, and confusion felt in those first moments while transitioning through the days, months, and years to follow.
A sibling's journey is different from that of a parent. Our role and feelings cannot compare yet they are just as important. Parents experience the greatest loss of their lives through the loss of their child. The emotional loss of the missing child’s siblings, has a similar and traumatic effect in their lives too.
I lost more than my sister on April 3, 1994 I lost my faith. Thanks to the bold faith of one child I have hope and a story to share. There is no one person or thing here on earth to replace Heidi or the friendship we had together yet after ten years of searching, I realized there is Someone who can, God.
“Mrs. Buske, you need Jesus.” Words that changed my life for the better.
My name is Lisa M. Buske and Heidi Allen is my sister. She remains missing but never forgotten. Our journeys after loss may vary yet the pain, grief, and need for hope are similar. This is my story of discovery, healing, and hope from the moment I learn of Heidi’s kidnapping until today.
Life after loss is a rollercoaster ride of memories and emotions.
Will you take this ride with me? To read reviews of this book, click on the photograph of me holding the book.

When the Waves Subside ~ There is Hope
Inspired by memories of time spent with my parents and sister along the shores of Lake Ontario.
Beneath the smooth stones of Lake Ontario are hidden treasures of glass ~ once broken shards, now transformed into beautiful rocks to treasure. Just like that glass, the parents of a missing child are broken and beaten against the rocks.
To purchase this book: click on the book cover.
If you leave the name of your favorite library, bookstore, café, or other location for a potential book signing ~
I'll send them an information packet.
Maybe I'll be in your neighborhood in April, May, or June!
This is our discussion question today. Most of the time I prefer to stay home and chill out because I feel as if I go, go, and go some more the rest of the time.
Others like to take family vacations that involve travel.
Some escape by themselves in different directions so everyone is happy.
Regardless of your preference, all good vacations start with a
fresh cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee for this gal.
How do you spend your vacations?
If money wasn't an issue ~ how would you spend your vacation?

I saved this picture in a draft blog a few months ago yet no words came to me so it remained a draft...until today. News reports today bring tears to my eyes and prayers to my heart for Sarah Ann Wood and her family. According to media announcements, law enforcement and the Herkimer district attorney's office are coming together to determine if they should resume the search for this sweet angel's remains.
A wonderful friend asked this afternoon, "Are you okay?" I nodded yes and she mouthed, "I'll catch you after school." My heart instantly went to a mutual friend and her battle for cancer, I started to pray while listening to the conclusion of our assembly. Once the students were safely on the bus, my friend shared "Search for Sarah" news with me. She didn't want me to hear it on the radio while driving home or be caught off guard. This was just super thoughtful of her.
With this this new information and weight on my heart, I lifted it all to God while packing up my bag and driving home. Tears trickled down my cheek as I talked with God, "Why? Lord, be with her family. Wrap your arms around them and hold them close. Oh Jesus, may this family rest in you and sleep well tonight. I pray the nightmares and raw emotions don't creep back in. Lord, I don't know what to pray. Be there and may they look to you for strength, love, and answers because this is positive to have their precious Sarah's case reviewed again yet to open the case file, opens the pain and loss. Oh God..."
Thank goodness Romans 8:26 tells us, "And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don't know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words." (NLT) I rambled to God the entire way home.
Once home, I congratulated Mags for her 1st place award for "Website Design" at the FBLA competition and listened to the excitement of our sweet daughter realizing she is smart, talented and gifted. As she finished the details of her day, we transitioned from celebration to the plans ahead for tonight and our mid-winter recess.
My concern and curiosity got the best of me so I changed the station to the news for more information. As we waited to learn the details of the search, we talked about the range of emotions the Wood's family is riding through right now and then how much they have impacted their community. One news report is linked through the photo above.
I cannot speak for them but I know the rollercoaster of emotions our family feels when the phone rings, the sheriff pulls in the driveway, or a news broadcast talks about our loved one. I don't know what, how, or for whom to pray but the Bible is clear ~ the Holy Spirit will help me in my weakness as I lift the Wood's family and their team of investigators to God in prayer.
Will you join me? If you could offer a sentence of encouragement to the Wood's family today ~ what would it be? Thank you for remembering all our missing...

With the release of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey fast approaching I realized there are two words necessary. Nineteen years ago, we, my family and I, found ourselves saying "thank you" a lot yet it never seemed enough. So many people gave of time, prayer, and talents to make the search for Heidi one of the largest in New York State at that time. Today, we find ourselves in a similar situation.
Many of you, if not all of you, continue to bless our family today. We wish we could thank each of you personally yet this is impossible. I pray you know we thank God for each of you. May you be blessed in return for just being you.
Since my "virtual" book tour started in January and after the response to yesterday's blog, I am sending a huge, heartfelt, and emotional thank you to those who set aside time to introduce me and share Where's Heidi? with their readers, and to all of you who continue to follow the blog. The response to yesterday's announcement of the pre-release book giveaway still amazes us today.
You are appreciated and I thank God for your encouragement, compassion, and your hearts for Heidi, myself, and my entire family. Thank you all!

I Hope So!!

To celebrate the first time in nearly nineteen years that we haven't dreaded the approaching April 3rd anniversary date ~ we are GIVING AWAY A BOOK!
The first decade after my only sister's kidnapping I viewed Easter, God, and the date of April 3rd as negative and stressful.
The painful reminders started on Ash Wednesday because this is the day marking the lead up to Easter Sunday. Instead of giving up chocolate or candy, I gave up a positive attitude.
Once I realized God wasn't to blame, my perspective started to change. Easter Sunday transitioned from the worst day of my life to the day it is meant to be ~ one of celebration, because Jesus rose from the dead after dying on the cross for my sins. (and yours)

Here is the challenge...in order to give away the book, we have set a goal of at least twenty-five comments on today's blog before drawing the winner. These twenty-five comments are from all of you!
Note: My comments don't count towards the goal and comments from my immediate family are not eligible. We want to hear from all of you!

Leave a note or answer one of the following questions:
How has Heidi M. Allen's disappearance changed your life?
Why do you hope to win a copy of this book?
What "connects" you to Heidi's disappearance,
me, my family, or this blog?

Okay, so I spent months running my parent's anniversary book through my brain - only sharing the ideas and thoughts with Ed and Mags in order to surprise my parents. Last week, they opened their gifts to see When the Waves Subside ~ There is Hope reflecting memories of family times along Lake Ontario. I couldn't stop smiling. It felt good to see how my words touched their hearts and I especially loved that I surprised them. Of course their response, "Paybacks are better."
My payback...a handcrafted table built by my dad, wood burned by my Mom, and sealed with love from both of them. A little green on the leaves and stems of the four roses places in the corners of the table, a light pink stain to match the rose on the cover of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey, and my name with the word "author" wood burned along the front.

Dad gave me a piece of paper last week and said, "Sign your name the way you will for your books. Now write the word, author. Good. Thanks, that's all we need."
I never thought they would use transparencies to copy my name to the table. They are too clever.
On April third, I'll sign a book dedicated to my sister, on the anniversary date of the last time we knew where she was, and the entire time ~ a reflection of my parent's love will remind me of why I write. There is hope and healing...

Thank you Mom and Dad...it is beautiful!
It will make April 3, 2013 even more special.
Due to the amazing shine and reflective quality of the table, it was difficult to capture its true beauty with my camera.
And no book signing is complete without...
After the table was finished, Mom thought, "It needs something.
Easter is the Sunday before the release of Where's Heidi? One Sister's Journey.
I know..." Mom drew her bunny. Dad went to work in the carpentry shop.
They met in the center to paint, bling, and detail these two adorable bunnies.
Mom even made grass with Easter eggs scattered about for them to rest on.
Too cute...I love them, don't you? Rascally rabbits...

Winner of Dinner Tickets Announced
It is ticket give-away today! There were thirty-two Facebook shares and five Tweets but only two left a comment. I wish I could include everyone who read the blog in this drawing but the rules were clear, you had to stop and leave a comment.
On Ash Wednesday, there will be another give-away. The goal though, before I will give away a FREE COPY of Where’s Heidi? One Sister’s Journey is there needs to be twenty-five comments by people other than myself or my direct family. I wonder if this pre-release copy of the book will remain on my shelf? Hmm…
Anyway, it is time for the drawing. The name selector we are using to give away the two dinner tickets, is the same one we’ll use for the FREE book give-away later in the week. More about this in Wednesday’s blog – TODAY IS ABOUT A FREE DATE NIGHT!

Snowflakes of Randomness Today

Does anyone else remember July 2010 when I announced "I plan to release my first book."? At the time I didn't think this day would ever come but now...oh my gosh! God continues to open doors, all of you continue to open your hearts, and I continue to pray. I pray for my precious sister, for her abductors, for this book, and for those who will read it.
As the release date gets closer, book signings and speaking events are added to the calendar. The to-do-list seems to grow instead of shrink. The organized piles around the house are starting to take over our home. The joy on my parents' faces - priceless. The anticipation for April third - positive. Ed and Mary - blessings.
Ash Wednesday is the kick-off to Easter for most. There will be a special announcement and give-away on this day - don't miss it.
See you tomorrow on the blog!

When the Waves Subside ~ There is Hope now available!
Although formatted like a children's book, its message is one directed towards the parents. The back jacket expresses best, "Beneath the smooth stones of Lake Ontario are hidden treasures of glass ~ once broken shards, now transformed into beautiful rocks to treasure. Just like that glass, the parents of a missing child are broken and beaten against the rocks."
I heard this week, "Any parent who's lost a child will relate to this book." Another told me, "Anyone who experienced loss, can relate, Lisa. Thank you." Humbled by the words of others who have read this book. Only in God's strength and the generosity of my parents is this book available now - on Amazon.com.
